What is propylene carbonate?

Propylene carbonate is a colorless, odorless, flammable liquid. It is miscible with ether, acetone, benzene, chloroform, vinyl acetate, etc., and is soluble in water and carbon tetrachloride. It has strong absorption capacity for carbon dioxide and is stable in nature. Industrially, propylene oxide and carbon dioxide are added under a certain pressure, and then distilled under reduced pressure. It can be used in oily solvents, spinning solvents, olefins, aromatic extractants, carbon dioxide absorbers, water-soluble dyes and pigment dispersants.
